How is the firmware of the 85mm f/1.4 Pro lens updated?

The firmware can be updated via a wired connection using the Viltrox Lens desktop client. For more details, please refer to this guide.

Is the focusing speed of the 85mm f/1.4 Pro slower than that of the LAB series?

Compared to the LAB series with a dual floating focus system and 4 VCM motors, the Viltrox 85mm f/1.4 Pro adopts a simpler single-group floating focus design. With less focusing load, it still achieves precise focusing performance even with just 2 VCM motors.

Does the 85mm f/1.4 Pro support customizing the Fn button via the Viltrox Lens APP?

No, it doesn't. The Fn button only supports in-camera function mapping.

Is the aperture of the 85mm f/1.4 Pro driven by a VCM motor like the LAB series?

No, while the 85mm f/1.4 Pro is the first lens in the Viltrox Pro series to be driven by VCM motors for focusing, the aperture is driven by an STM motor.

Is the manual focus of the 85mm f/1.4 Pro linear or non-linear?

All of Viltrox's autofocus lenses, including the 85mm f/1.4 Pro, feature linear manual focus.

Does the 85mm f/1.4 Pro support profile correction?

In-camera: Not supported in version 1.03; support will be added in version 1.04.

Adobe: Waiting for Adobe to update the lens profile data.

Adobe's distortion correction generally provides better results than in-camera correction.

Does the 85mm f/1.4 Pro support the E-Z adapter?

Yes. The 85mm f1/4 Pro is fully compatible with the latest Viltrox E-Z adapter marked VER6.0. Earlier versions may still work but might not lock securely.

We do not recommend using third-party E-Z adapters, as their compatibility has not been verified and may lead to detection issues or unexpected malfunctions.

For the best performance, we suggest using the native mount version of the lens.

The 85mm f/1.4 Pro feels like there is something loose or rattling inside when shaken. Is this normal?

The phenomenon is inherent to VCM (Voice Coil Motor) focusing systems. The slight internal movement or noise typically diminishes once the lens is powered and the motors are engaged. Additionally, the optical groups are equipped with damping mechanisms designed to absorb vibrations and protect the lens assembly during normal handling and use.
