The ALEXA 265 shares the same LogC4 workflow and 3D LUT as the ALEXA 35, supporting in-camera recording of ARRIRAW format and utilizing Codex HDE lossless compression to reduce file sizes. Footage can be downloaded via standard card readers and card readers. During on-set monitoring, the operator can choose to output HD and UHD separately or simultaneously, with support for both SDR and HDR viewing. Additionally, ARRI will update the SDK to ensure compatibility with mainstream third-party post-production tools.

1.Optimized Size and Weight: Smaller and Lighter than the ALEXA 65

The body design is similar to the ALEXA 35, featuring the same heat dissipation design and power management technology. It is slightly larger than the ALEXA 35 but weighs less than one-third of the ALEXA 65, at just 3.3kg. This makes it ideal for applications such as drones and stabilizers, where previous 65mm systems were restricted. Optimize startup time and power consumption, while ensuring compatibility with ALEXA 35 accessories and offering versatile mounting options.

2.Image Sensor Upgrade: Higher Image Quality

The newly developed 65mm image sensor maintains a 6.5K resolution with a larger pixel size. The dynamic range increased from 14 stops to 15 stops, and maximum sensitivity improved from an EI of 3200 to 6400, delivering crisper blacks, batter contrast and lower noise.

3.Efficient Workflow: Powered by the New Generation LogC4

The ALEXA 265 shares the same LogC4 workflow and 3D LUT as the ALEXA 35, supporting in-camera recording of ARRIRAW format and utilizing Codex HDE lossless compression to reduce file sizes. Footage can be downloaded via standard card readers and card readers. During on-set monitoring, the operator can choose to output HD and UHD separately or simultaneously, with support for both SDR and HDR viewing. Additionally, ARRI will update the SDK to ensure compatibility with mainstream third-party post-production tools.

4.Unique Filter System: Expanding Creative Filter Options

Special filter trays, housed in protective cartridges, slide into position in front of the sensor. Each camera is supplied with ARRI FSND filters ranging from ND0 to ND2.7, with single-stop increments. An encoded chip can display filter information on the user interface and record it as embedded metadata in the footage.

5.Advanced Color Science: Accurate Color Capture

Utilize the same REVEAL color science as the ALEXA 35 for in-camera image processing, and ensure compatibility with ARRIRAW footage from the ALEXA Mini LF. Capture accurate colors and subtle tonal variations, with natural skin tone rendering. The color accuracy is highly consistent, simplifying the color grading process. The advanced LED color calibration feature is also ideal for virtual production (VP) and other applications.

The ALEXA 265 will begin mass production in early 2025.

The compatibility between lenses and cameras is not only about mount matching, but more importantly, whether the lens image circle can fully cover the ALEXA 265's sensor.

There are limited lens options available for 65mm digital systems on the market, but Viltrox offers lenses that easily cover the 65mm image sensor.
