Great All-Around Lens

For the price, this lens exceeds expectations. It's sharp, relatively compact, focuses quickly and silently, and is tightly-assembled. There are a few negatives, all of which are almost certainly concessions to keep the price low price. I wish the lens barrel were made of metal instead of plastic. The plastic is of decent quality but it doesn't feel as confidence-inspiring as metal. The lack of a customizable button and an AF/MF switch are clear sacrifices to keep the price down. And I wish the lens were an f/2 instead of an f/2.5. I knew all this before I bought the lens so I wasn't disappointed that these features were missing. And none of that detracts from the fact that this is an optically very good lens at a price that provides excellent value.

Great lens for the price. I also appreciate the small size, making it a great travel lens. We do need some weather sealing on it however.
